(Lakefield, Mn.)– Organizers of a clean-up at Kilen Woods State Park near Lakefield this past Saturday say the event was a success.
Jackson-based Federated Rural Electric sponsored the clean-up through its “GreenTouch” program. Officials say over the past 25 years, 444 volunteers have donated about 1,427 hours through that program.
The clean-up at Kilen Woods consisted of picking up litter and downed branches; raking; and pounding rebar back in on parking spurs. Volunteers also spread gravel around picnic area fire rings and at the camping pads, and raked the sand volleyball court.
Jason Honkomp, park ranger at Kilen Woods, expressed his gratitude to those who participated in Saturday’s clean-up.
