Jury Convicts SL Man In Domestic Abuse Case

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– The first jury trial to be held in Dickinson county’s new courthouse has resulted in a guilty verdict against a Spirit Lake charged in a domestic abuse case.

A 12-member jury Wednesday convicted 39-year-old Brian Kelly Morris on a charge of domestic abuse causing bodily injury…a serious misdemeanor. The charge stems from an investigation by the Dickinson County Attorney’s Office, which formerly charged Morris in November, 2004.

Morris faces a maximum imprisonment not to exceed a year and a fine not to exceed 1,500-dollars. He will also be required to participate in the mandatory batterer’s treatment program.
