(Arnolds Park)– An abalone-inlaid acoustic guitar that belonged to the late Johnny Cash is on display right now at the Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association’s Museum in Arnolds Park.
The guitar was purchased by Sharon Graves of Grand Island, Nebraska in memory of her husband, Terry. She purchased it at an auction of the Johnny and June Carter Cash estate at Sotheby’s in New York City.
The Graves were friends of Johnny and June. Terry Graves was referred to as Grand Island’s “Man in Black”.
Sharon attended both June and Johnny’s funerals and decided to purchase the guitar when the announcement was made of the estate sale.
The guitar, until now, was being kept in a vault in Grand Island. But Graves said she wanted the public to have a chance to view it, so agreed to put it on display at the Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association’s Museum in Arnolds Park.
The guitar, along with other Cash memorabilia, will remain on display through the summer.
The museum is open daily at 11:00 a.m. It’s located next to the roof garden and pavilion in Arnolds Park.
