(Jackson, Mn.)– A two-vehicle crash this (Friday) morning in Jackson county sent three people to the hospital.
The Sheriff’s Office says vehicles driven by 33-year-old Karen Van Westen of rural Jackson and 32-year-old Keith Schoenfeld of rural Lakefield collided at the intersection of 420th Avenue and 750th Street in Sioux Valley Township shortly before 8:00 a.m.
Van Westen and a passenger in her vehicle, a six-year-old child, were taken by ambulance to Worthington Regional Hospital, along with Schoenfeld. There was no word on the extent of their injuries. Another passenger in the Van Westen vehicle, a two and-a-half-year-old child, wasn’t injured.
Authorities say Van Westen was westbound on 750th Street and Schoenfeld was northbound on 420th Avenue when the collision took place. A 2000 GMC Yukon driven by Van Westen went into the northwest ditch upon impact while a 2006 Jeep driven by Schoenfeld and owned by AgStar Financial Services of Rochester went into a field northwest of the intersection.
Both vehicles were totalled.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by the Lakefield Ambulance.
Authorities say the crash remains under investigation.
