(Spirit Lake)– Iowa is once again experiencing an increase in traffic fatalities. Kevin Krull of the Iowa State Patrol says it comes as we enter one of the busiest times of the year for travel. He says 101 fatalities had been recorded so far this year as of earlier this week…
“That’s pretty sad because last year, we’re not to the half-way point. Last year we had 258, 260 fatalities on Iowa roadways, so we’re almost to our half-way point but yet we’re not, on the year, so. Last year at this time, we are at 18 more deaths on the roadways this year than last year, so any fatality is a tragedy but we need to do our part to try to avoid those and get those numbers down. Let’s get below average in this category rather than above.”
Krull urges everyone to do their part by buckling up, not driving while impaired or distracted, and being on the lookout for others.
