(Spirit Lake)– Light the Way: Walking through Dementia Together, is a conversation on Alzheimer’s focusing on clarity, resources & hope. This event is coming to the Spirit Lake Campus of Iowa Lakes Community College. Chase Keller, who is the President of Light the Way, talks about why they started this event…
“We decided this is a way that we can get out and get a lot of education and support and resources to a lot of people throughout Iowa that just don’t know what next steps to take. They’re kind of in the fog of what’s going on when they have a diagnosis or, you know, for a lot of caregivers especially that just don’t know how to best support their, you know, their loved one.”
The event is an educational opportunity focusing on families, caregivers, professionals and anyone impacted by dementia. It will take place on June 3rd. Doors open at 11:45 and presentations start at noon. Keller talks about the presenters…
“We have two or three people from Golden Concierge itself. We have the rep from the Alzheimer’s Association. We have somebody from the Dementia Friendly Iowa, usually somebody from hospice. Typically, we’re trying to get somebody from the insurance side or the like, the financial planning side, the legal side, just to deal with the set up the trusts and everything in order for the transition.”
The event is free and open to the public and will take place at Iowa Lakes Community College Campus in Spirit Lake. They ask that you RSVP to the event so they can plan light refreshments and snacks for attendees. You can register for this educational event at dementiatownhall.com
