(Spirit Lake)– The Dickinson County Museum is gearing up for some special programs this summer. Director Jean Ann Myhre says they’re bringing back their History LIVES speaker series, with the first installment of the season coming up next week…
“We’re going to kick off our History LIVES! series with Resorts, Past and Present, with Lynn Fillenwarth and her team presenting next Wednesday at 7:00 pm.”
She says they’re working on lining up the rest of the series…
“We also will talk to Pick’s Resort in the lineup and Crescent Beach and we have a few more that we are talking to see if we can get their story.”
Myhre adds they have some additional programs coming up as well…
“Thursday of next week we’ve got our Stroll Back in Time that we are coordinating with the Spirit Lake Chamber of Commerce and that starts at 5:00 at the museum and it’s just a historical tour through downtown Spirit Lake. We also on June 2nd will be hosting the kick off for the third season of the Okoboji Project, and we will have more details about that.”
And while there’s some construction going on, Myhre still encourages everyone to stop by the Dickinson County Museum and view the artifacts and displays from years gone by, along with the new interactive display in the historic Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad Depot…
“Yes. Steve’s Depot is incredible and we encourage everyone to stop in. We are not closing down during this period of time where we’re having a new bathroom and director’s office updated. We are here and we are welcoming all.”
The Dickinson County Museum is currently open Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm with the Way Back Wednesday programs at 10:00 am those mornings. Effective Memorial Day through Labor Day, the hours will be from Noon until 4:00 pm Tuesday through Saturday. Myhres adds the museum is also available for group tours during off hours.
