Hartley Man Sentenced On Federal Meth Charges

(Sioux City)– A Hartley man has been sentenced to 20 years in federal prison on meth charges.

28-year-old Nickolas Pratt received the term after pleading guilty January 15th of this year to one count of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of methamphetamine within a thousand feet of the Hartley City Park and to distributing a controlled substance to a person under the age of 21 after previously being convicted of a felony drug charge.

At the plea hearing, Pratt admitted that from June 4th, 1998 through February 2003 he and others distributed over 500 grams of methamphetamine. On December 26th, 2001 and January 10th, 2002, he sold methamphetamine to an individual in Hartley who was cooperating with the government. He also distributed methamphetamine at a residence that was within a thousand feet of the Hartley City Park.

In addition to the prison sentence, Pratt must also serve a 10-year term of supervised release.

Pratt is being held in the U-S Marshal’s custody until he can be transported to a federal prison.
