(Harris)– A rural Harris couple may be facing animal neglect charges as the result of 49 dogs and eight cats authorities discovered at their residence.
The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office says it executed a search warrant Tuesday at 1203 Vine Avenue, the home of Mark and Arlene Schreve. Authorities say the search was the result of complaints from neighbors about possible animal abuse.
Authorities were able to round up all but four of the animals.
Veterinarians are assessing the health of the animals and treating those that need it. The Sioux Falls Humane Society has taken custody of the animals.
Authorities say formal charges are pending the results of testing by vets.
