Guilty Plea Entered In Fatal Car Crash

November 22, 2014

(Mankato, Mn.)– A Blue Earth, Minnesota county commissioner has pleaded guilty in the case of a fatal car crash that claimed the life of a southwest Minnesota man.

Commissioner Bob Roberts pleaded guilty in Brown County Court to leaving the scene of an accident that led to a fatality.

In the plea agreement, Roberts will serve one year in the Blue Earth county jail. He would also have to resign as the county commissioner. Roberts has agreed to participate in a mediation program with the victim’s family.

The plea agreement needs the approval of a judge.

Roberts was charged with four felony counts of criminal vehicular homicide from an accident on Highway 60 that killed Allen Lee Soderholm of Lakefield last September. Authorities say Roberts’ blood alcohol concentration level was at point-oh-eight two hours after the accident.
