(Des Moines)– Governor Kim Reynolds has issued disaster proclamations for Clay, Palo Alto and Plymouth counties as a result of Monday’s severe weather. It allows state resources to be used in recovery efforts and makes the counties eligible for the Iowa Individual Assistance Grant Program and the Disaster Case Advocacy program.
The Individual Assistance Grant program provides grants up to $7,000 for households with incomes up to 200 percent of the federal poverty level to assist with home or car repairs, replacement of personal property or food and temporary housing expenses.
The Disaster Case Advocacy Program provides advocates who work with clients to create a disaster recovery plan. There are no income eligibility requirements for that program. The application period closes 180 days from the date of the issuance of the proclamation.
