(Fostoria)– An early morning traffic stop Thursday near Fostoria has led to the arrest of a Spencer man on drug and weapons charges.
A Clay county deputy stopped a vehicle for speeding around 4:20 a.m. Authorities say the driver, 46-year-old Paul Garot of Spencer, was found to be driving with a revoked license and did not have an interlock device installed in his vehicle as required by law.
A search of the vehicle turned up marijuana and drug paraphernalia along with a single-shot 12 gauge shotgun. A background check on Garot showed he is a convicted felon, thus prohibiting him from possessing firearms.
Garot was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, a class “D” felony; possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also cited for speeding driving while revoked.
He was booked into the Clay county jail on bond of 12-thousand dollars.
