(Arnolds Park)– Five entities have joined forces to create the “Iowa Great Lakes Museum Alliance”.
The alliance consists of the Lakes Art Center, Higgins Museum, Dickinson County Museum, Iowa Great Lakes Maritime Museum and the Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association Museum.
Doris Welle of the Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association says the new alliance provides everyone involved with new opportunities that hadn’t been available up until now. For example, Welle says they’ll be able to do joint marketing and promoting. She says they’ll now be able to send a representative to various tourism shows to attract tour groups.
The Iowa Great Lakes Museum Alliance was founded earlier this fall. Welle says they just felt there was no point in each entity trying to go about promotions, marketing and other things separately.
Welle adds the alliance will also help foster communications between the various museums.
A new brochure highlighting the five museums has been published and is available at each location. In includes a “passport” to be filled out and returned for two drawings in 2006 valued at 200-dollars each. A prize will be awarded in mid-May consisting of a summer entertainment package for two at the Lakes Art Center; two tickets to the 2006 Hall of Fame Induction Spectacular; a legend season pass for two to the Arnolds Park Amusement Park and Queen Two; and a hardcover edition of “White Men Follow After”.
Another prize package will be drawn in November, 2006.
