(Sanborn)– An unattended fire pit is said to have been the cause of a fire Thursday evening at a residence in Sanborn.
Fire Chief Randy Lyman says the Sanborn Fire Department was called to 310 East 2nd Street around 6:00 pm. He says the garage was fully engulfed when they arrived. Crews quickly brought the blaze under control, but the garage and most of its contents were destroyed. Lyman says the house sustained some minor smoke damage, with some damage also reported to some siding on a neighboring house. A nearby tree also was on fire. Firefighters were on the scene about two hours. They were called back around 10:00 pm after some trees re-ignited.
The Sanborn Fire Department was assisted by the Sheldon Fire Department, Sanborn police, the O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office and the Sanborn Utility Department.
No injuries were reported.
