Federated REA Announces Latest Operation Round-Up Grant Awards

April 30, 2026

(Jackson, Mn.)– 29 groups received money in this 63rd round of Operation Round Up funding and Andrea Christoffer, Marketing and Communications Manager with Federated REA, talks about how the program works…

“This is a wonderful way for federated members to help our local communities, and that’s kind of the cooperative difference. Local and commitment to community. Federated members allow their electric bills to be rounded up to the nearest dollar amount, and that extra change goes to the Operation Roundup Trust Fund. And then organizations can apply for these dollars. And there are certain criteria for it. It has to be community service or community leadership, education or youth projects, environmental projects, emergency energy assistance funds, or disaster relief.”

The Trust Board for Operation Round Up received 35 applications totaling just under $75,000 and Christoffer says there is definitely a need for the extra funds…

“We didn’t have that much money available. We had about nineteen thousand dollars that we could award, so we had to cut some dollar amounts back, or we had to say no to some organizations. But the trust board could still fund twenty nine organizations, um, totaling nineteen thousand. So that’s still a lot of help for the area.”

Operation Round Up is a way for Federated REA members to help other members. If you would like more information on the program you can call 507-847-3520 and press ext 2224.
