(Estherville)– The Estherville City Council this (Monday) evening was scheduled to approve plans and specifications for the shelter for the Phillips Pavilion project. City Administrator Penny Clayton recommended the council delay the matter after getting some disappointing news at a recent bid letting…
“Bids came in a little bit higher than we anticipated and so as we look at ways to potentially shave that cost down a little bit, we may need to consider modifying the plans and specifications. So I’d rather you just not approve them now. We’ll make changes to them and then both those items will come back at some point with concensus on how to proceed. I did review a few of the details. I think there are some places that maybe could be adjusted through a change order with the apparent low bidder. The apparent low bidder is Woodruff Construction out of Spencer, and so we’re having communications with them.”
Clayton says revised plans and specifications for the project will be brought to the council at their May 4th meeting. Clayton says time is somewhat of the essence as a grant that was awarded on the project is due to expire late in the year.
