Estherville Assault Sends One To Jail; Two Others To Hospital

(Estherville)– An Estherville man faces charges following an assault early Saturday that sent two people to the hospital.

Estherville police say they were called around 2:00 a.m. Saturday to a municipal parking lot in the 500 block of First Avenue South in Estherville. Upon arriving officers determined an assault had taken place. Two victims, who’s names weren’t released, were taken by ambulance to Avera Holy Family Hospital in Estherville for treatment of head injuries.

Upon investigating and interviewing several witnesses, police arrested 30-year-old David Bennington on one count of willful injury…a class “D” felony; and one count of serious assault…a serious misdemeanor. Bennington was booked into the Emmet county jail on bond of $6,350. He was still in jail as of earlier today (Monday).

Estherville police were assisted in their investigation by the Emmet County Sheriff’s Office.
