(Estherville)— A 28-year-old Emmetsburg man faces charges in connection with some burglaries to some vehicles in the Estherville area over Memorial Day Weekend. Online records show 28-year-old Dalton Burdorf was arrested Monday on three counts of burglary in the third degree; providing false identification information and trespassing…first offense. Burdorf was booked into the Emmet County Jail a little before 12 Noon Monday.
In a press release issued today (Wed.), the Emmet County Sheriff’s Office says deputies received a report a little before 9:00 am Monday of a man wearing only shorts who was running around the campground at Fort Defiance State Park. The suspect was later identified as Burdorf. He was accused of entering at least three unoccupied vehicles. Authorities say there also had been a disturbance between the suspect and a camper before he fled into a wooded area. Authorities utilized K9’s and drones as part of their search.
Burdorf was taken into custody about an hour and-a-half later after a motorist reported spotting a man matching his description in a ditch, and that the suspect requested a ride from the reporting party.
In addition to charges related to Monday’s incident, authorities say Burdorf was also wanted on an Emmet county warrant for failure to appear on two counts of possession of a controlled substance.
