(Spirit Lake)– The Dickinson county board of supervisors this (Tuesday) morning voted four-to-one to authorize County Engineer Dan Eckert to re-design the 6th Street culvert project at Mill Creek on the east edge of Milford.
The re-design will eliminate any change to the road grade in that area and would include a box culvert instead of tube.
Several supervisors sounded off over comments made at Monday’s Milford City Council from those concerned the project would totally drain the lower chain of lakes. The supervisors argue that would NOT be the case.
But supervisor Chairman David Gottsche has different feelings. He cast the lone no vote against the re-design. Gottsche also voted against the original plans for the project.
Saying she’s frustrated over mis-information about the project, Supervisor Mardi Allen suggested the county and cities reallocate money for the upcoming fiscal year’s allotment to the Dickinson County Water Quality Commission to doing another hydrology study similar to those done in the past by the U-S Army Corps of Engineers. The supervisors opted instead to move forward with a re-design of the culvert project.
