(Spirit Lake)– Should Dickinson county and its 10 municipalities combine together for governmental services? The Dickinson County Taxpayers Association thinks the idea is atleast worth looking into, saying it could alleviate repetitive services, saving taxpayers money.
The association’s Bob Vernon briefed the supervisors on the issue at their meeting Tuesday. He says the first step in the process would be to survey the county’s residents at a cost of roughly 20-thousand dollars. Vernon says grants and loans are available to cover the cost.
Vernon says Dickinson county, with its geography, would make a perfect candidate for a consolidation of government services.
The supervisors took no action on Vernon’s proposal, only agreeing to take it under advisement.
