Dickinson County Supervisors Adopt Revision For Landscape Architecture Permit Fees

September 03, 2026

(Spirit Lake)– The Dickinson County Board of Supervisors Tuesday adopted a resolution that revises the process for adjusting fees for permits through Planning and Zoning for certain lakeshore landscaping projects. Administrator Megan Kardell says it will simplify the process whenever adjustments are made to the fee schedule…

Kardell adds the maximum permit fees for lakeshore landscaping projects only kick in if a certain threshold is met…

“Any greater valuation than $27,500 would require the max permit fee. So we’re not penalizing the folks that are just doing a small terrace or a fire pit or some minimal landscaping. It would have to be something a bit more substantial.”

The supervisors voted 5-0 Tuesday to adopt the change as recommended by the county’s Planning and Zoning Commission. The action followed a public hearing that drew no comment.
