Corridor Of Opportunity Looks At Expanding Boundaries

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– The Corridor of Opportunity may be about to expand its horizons.

Kathy Everett, the Corridor’s Executive Director, says the economic development organization that’s served Clay and Dickinson counties in the past is looking into the possibility of expanding into atleast one or two adjacent counties. She says it’s the result of a new policy from the state requiring organizations such as the corridor to take on more of a regional approach to economic development in order to receive state funding.

Everett says they’ve been talking with Emmet and Buena Vista counties about the possibility of them joining the corridor. Neither county currently belongs to an economic development entity.

Everett says the concept of expanding the Corridor received the support of Clay and Dickinson county officials when it was presented to them at a meeting a couple weeks ago.
