Corridor Of Opportunity Awarded Marketing Grant

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– The Iowa Great Lakes Corridor of Opportunity has been awarded a marketing grant from the Iowa Department of Economic Development. The grant, approved by the department’s board of directors, is in the amount of 175-thousand dollars over the next three years. It required a one-on-one local match.

Kathy Evert, the Corridor’s Executive Director, says the recent expansion of the Corridor to include Emmet and Buena Vista counties along with Clay and Dickinson played a major role in landing the grant.

Evert says the grant will go a long way toward the Corridor achieving its economic development goals of developing more partners and attracting more people and more jobs to the region. She says the grant will be used to revamp the Corridor’s website; to develop some radio and television advertising spots; to produce some video pieces; to update brochures and for direct marketing trips for primarily work force recruiting.

The Corridor applied for the same grant a year ago but was rejected because it didn’t meet the criteria of having three or more adjacent counties involved in its efforts.
