(Estherville)– The Estherville City Council Monday evening heard from a representative of a company interested in constructing a data center in Estherville. Gyles Uhlenhopp of Path One Companies is a native of Windom, Minnesota. He says Estherville fits the bill for a data center on a number of fronts…
Uhlenhopp told the council Path One could be looking at a facility up to 25 megawatts in size that would be constructed on 8 to 12 acres of land in an industrial park on the south side of Estherville.
Ryan Craig is the President and CEO of Iowa Lakes Electric Cooperative, which would supply power to the facility. He says Path One would be treated like any other new business, industrial or residential customer looking to come online with ILEC…
Uhlenhopp says another step in the process would include the formation of a “Community Advisory Council”…
City Administrator Penny Clayton says the city’s Planning and Zoning Commission will be meeting this Thursday to start looking at possible rules for a data center…
Clayton also recommended a developer’s agreement be put together and signed off on by both the city and company prior to any construction being started.
Thursday’s meeting of the Estherville Planning and Zoning Commission is set for 4:30 pm in the council chambers at city hall.
