(Spencer)– There’s a lot of hustle and bustle at the Clay County Fairgrounds as exhibitors are busy setting up in anticipation for the opening day of the 2026 run coming up this Saturday. Clay County Fair CEO and Manager Jason Brockshus says while some members of the general public may be tempted to come out and get a sneak peak, he’s urging them NOT to do that…
“There’s just lots of moving parts. You know we have nearly 500 vendors, they’re all bringing in equipment and getting their booths set up, which all takes time and effort. We’re moving around and setting up signage and putting up wayfare, finding things, so people can find their way around the fairgrounds. Livestock will actually be coming in soon, right before the fair some of those, so it’s just very, very busy. So if you have business on the fairgrounds, for sure, come and do it. Those gates are open and we welcome you. But if you’re coming just because your curious, you want to see through, maybe double-think that and do us a favor and do us a solid and wait until that 7:00 am on Saturday and flood those gates and come and enjoy the Clay County Fair.”
Brockshus says having unneeded people on the grounds right now hampers those set-up operations, but more importantly, he says it also causes safety concerns.
