(Spencer)– Minor injuries were reported in a two-vehicle crash Saturday night at the intersection of 240th Avenue and 340th Street in Clay county.
The Sheriff’s Office says 15-year-old Matthew Mason of Spencer was eastbound on 340th Street and was trying to keep up with a friend in a different vehicle when he ran a stop sign, colliding with a vehicle driven by 57-year-old Kathryn Kramer of Curlew, who was southbound on 240th Avenue. Authorities say Mason ran from the scene. A witness chased Mason into a field, but gave up. Mason was eventually tracked down by the Clay County Sheriff’s Office’s K-9 Unit at his home.
Mason was charged with failure to report a personal injury accident, reckless driving, failure to obey a stop sign and driving while suspended.
Kramer and a passenger in her vehicle were transported to Spencer Hospital where they were treated for minor injuries.
A 1997 Olds driven by Mason and a 1996 Buick driven by Kramer were both totalled.
The crash took place around 10:45 p.m. Saturday.
