(Spencer)– Drug charges are pending against a Minneapolis man in connection with a traffic stop around 2:40 a.m. Sunday in Clay county.
The Sheriff’s Office says a deputy made a traffic stop on a vehicle and discovered the driver, 31-year-old Ahmed Sheik-Mohamed, didn’t have a valid driver’s license.
A subsequent search of the vehicle turned up 3.2 ounces of a possible illegal substance from Somalia known as “khat”.
Sheik-Mohamed was placed under arrest for failure to have a valid driver’s license. Authorities say drug charges are pending the outcome of test results from the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Spencer Police Department.
