Charges Filed In Clay County Hit & Run Case

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– Charges have been filed in connection with a hit-and-run collision that took place Monday evening on Highway 18 in Clay county.

Authorities say 19-year-old Maggie Ullman of rural Spencer was westbound on Highway 18 about a half mile west of 180th Avenue while a vehicle driven by 57-year-old Roger Ginger of Everly was eastbound in the same lane. Ullman then pulled onto the north shoulder where the two collided. The vehicle driven by Ginger then left the scene. Ullman got on a cell phone and called authorities as she was following Ginger. Ginger was finally stopped by a State Trooper a half mile west of 190th Avenue on 300th Street.

Ginger was taken into custody and charged with operating while intoxicated and driving left of center. He was booked into the Clay county jail.

No injuries were reported.

1,500-dollars in damage was estimated to a Ford pickup driven by Ullman; a 2000 Dodge driven by Ginger sustained an estimated one thousand dollars in damage.

The incident took place shortly after 11:00 p.m.
