Car vs. Motorcycle Crash Injures E’burg Man

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– A collision between a motorcycle and a car in Spencer Sunday evening has landed an Emmetsburg man in the hospital.

Spencer police say the mishap took place around 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of 11th Street Southwest and Second Avenue Southwest, near Burger King.

Authorities say Connie Sams of Spencer was stopped at the intersection when she pulled in front of an eastbound Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by John Flannegan of Emmetsburg. Sams told police she looked both ways before entering the intersection, and never saw the motorcycle until after the impact. Flannegan did have his headlights on at the time of the crash.

Flannegan was taken by ambulance to Spencer Hospital. A passenger on the bike, Donna Todd of Spencer, received minor injuries but sought medical treatment on her own.

Sams was cited for failure to yield after stop. Flannegan was cited for driving a motorcycle on a restricted license.
