(Hartley)– We should know later today (Wed.) the cause of a fire that heavily damaged the former Beef Specialists of Iowa plant in downtown Hartley.
Firefighters from seven area communities battled the blaze for hours Tuesday. No injuries were reported.
Hartley Fire Chief Doug Haugland tells KUOO news it appears the blaze started in an area between some old and newer construction. He says the older part of the facility is a total loss.
Dave Schipper of the State Fire Marshall’s Office is assisting in the investigation.
There had been no production at the facility for several years. It was being used recently for storage.
