(Okoboji)– After repeated delays, construction at Sherwood Forest Park in Okoboji is now complete. The new park was originally scheduled to open to the public a little more than a year ago, but construction and drainage issues pushed that back.
Amy Heibult, Public Relations Coordinator for the Dickinson County Conservation Board, which oversaw the project, says they’ll hold a ribbon cutting at 10:00 am July 20th…
“We’ll have some words before the ribbon cutting, we’ll cut the ribbon, and then we invite the community to enjoy the park. Currently people are welcome to use the park. The restrooms are not available at this time until the ribbon cutting ceremony, but there are so many cool features out there. What makes this park unique is there is a three level bike pump track where visitors can progress through the course without having to pedal. There’s also about two miles of trails that people can walk and bike on and there’s also seating oasis throughout the park where they can sit on these beautiful limestone benches and take in the beautiful blooms of the native flowers there.”
Sherwood Forest Park is located at 3301 Lakeshore Drive in Okoboji, the site of the former Inn Golf Course.
The project was made possible through donations and grants.
