Alltel Aquires Midwest Wireless

(Mankato, Mn.)– Alltel Corporation says it will buy regional wireless-services provider Midwest Wireless for a billion dollars. The deal will give Alltel 400-thousand customers in an area including southern Minnesota, northern and eastern Iowa and western Wisconsin.

Purchase of the Mankato, Minnesota-based company is expected in the first half of 2006 and requires regulatory approval.

Alltel, based in Little Rock, Arkansas, provides wireless, local and long-distance, internet and broadband services in 36 states. It has more than 15 million customers.
