(Spirit Lake)– Work on the next phase of a major street project in Spirit Lake will be resuming soon. City Attorney/Administrator Gregg Owens tells KUOO news construction on the next phase of 23rd Street from Chicago Avenue to Francis Sites Drive is set to start next week…
“The affected residents on the first part of the project will be those that are from Chicago and then to the east two blocks. All of the residents will be getting a letter, a door hanger, or both, basically the same thing, within the next few days outlining what’s going to happen next. That project will proceed in I think four, the last time I looked, but maybe they’re adding a fifth phase, so it’s broken up and will continue through the summer into the fall.”
Owens says the reason for doing the construction two to three blocks at a time is to limit disruptions for those living in that area…
“The reason it’s being done a couple of blocks at a time is to make it more convenient for people to continue to use their homes, not having any interruption in mail service, not having any inconvenience for the whole summer, you’ll just have the inconvenience when the project gets to you.”
The first phase of the project from Hill Avenue to Chicago Avenue was completed last year. Owens says the project will be fully completed once the work from Chicago Avenue to Francis Sites Drive concludes this fall.
