ABI Moves It’s Annual Meeting From Okoboji To Sioux City

November 22, 2014

(Des Moines)– The annual meeting of the Iowa Association of Business and Industry, which promotes Iowa as a place to do business, is taking its own business out of state.

This year in June, the organization of 15-hundred Iowa businesses will meet in South Sioux City, Nebraska and play golf in South Dakota.

The group has met in Okoboji since 1978, but the association’s new chairwoman, Charese Yanney of Sioux City, requested that the meeting be held in her hometown.

Yanney says a downtown Sioux City hotel was not ready when planning for the meeting took place 18 months ago.

Mike Ralston, the association’s President, says members haven’t complained about the location change. He says most of the events will take place in Iowa.
