(Sibley)– A member of the Sibley-Ocheyedan High School baseball team has tested positive for COVID-19. School officials say the entire junior varsity and varsity baseball teams are now in quarantine, adding that anyone who had direct contact with the player will need to refrain from participating in school activities and the fitness center for 14 days from their date of exposure. The Iowa Department of Public Health defines direct contact as being within six feet of a positive case for 15 minutes or longer.
School officials say exposure risk in the case began July 6th.
Those who had second-person exposure, meaning they had been in contact with someone else who had contact with someone who tested positive, needs to closely monitor their health and continue to practice social distancing and hygiene practices.
School officials say with the start of the school year and fall activities coming up, it’s vital “families be up front and honest with information provided to public health or the school district.”
