(Mallard)– A collision Monday evening in Palo Alto county involving a pickup and a semi sent one person to the hospital.
The Iowa State Patrol says it happened at the intersection of 500th Street and 525th Avenue near Mallard.
Troopers say 57-year-old Denton Knobloch of West Bend was driving a 2008 Ford pickup and 32-year-old Jacob Banwart of Rolfe was driving a 2013 Peterbilt tractor-trailer. Authorities say Banwart was northbound and proceeded through the intersection and collided with the pickup driven by Knobloch, which was then drug under the semi trailer a short distance until coming to rest in the ditch. The trailer came unhooked from the semi and crashed into a utility pole.
Knobloch was taken by ambulance to the Emmetsburg hospital. An accident report says he was not wearing a seatbelt.
The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office and Emmetsburg ambulance assisted on the scene. The collision took place a little after 7:30 pm.
