Minor Injuries Reported In Clay County Chain Reaction Collision

October 14, 2026

(Spencer)– The Clay County Sheriff’s Office has released details into a three-vehicle collision that took place Friday of last week near Dickens.

An accident report says 50-year-old Michael Kallansrud of Fort Dodge was driving a 2025 GMC northbound in the 3500 mile of County Road N-14 when he failed to see two other vehicles that had slowed for a railroad crossing. The report says Kallansrud collided with the rear of a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado driven by 35-year-old Anthony Oxborough of Jackson. The pickup was then pushed into the rear of a 2024 Peterbilt semi tractor-trailer driven by 43-year-old Joshua Soenen of Emmetsburg.

All three drivers were treated on the scene for minor injuries and released.

The vehicles driven by Oxborough and Kallansrud were totaled; damage to the semi was estimated at $3,000.

Kallansrud was cited for failure to stop in an assured, clear distance.

The Dickens Fire Department, Iowa State Patrol and Spencer Ambulance assisted on the scene.
