(Spencer)– A Spirit Lake man was arrested Saturday after allegedly refusing to follow the commands of law enforcement at an accident scene.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were directing traffic in the 3400 mile of 190th Avenue when a 2006 Ford F350 came upon the scene. They say the driver, 73-year-old Duane Ver Meer of Spirit Lake, allegedly refused to obey the deputy’s instructions and drove through the roadblock.
Deputies pursued Ver Meer to a building on the other side of the roadblock and arrested him. He was charged with failure to obey a peace officer and was booked into jail. He was later released on bond.
