(Wahpeton)– Swimming is once again NOT being recommended at a lakes area beach due to bacterial contamination.
The latest beach monitoring report issued late this week by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources shows water samples at Emmerson Bay on the west side of West Lake Okoboji tested excessively high for E-coli. The bacteria can cause illness if ingested in high levels.
Swimming areas at Crandall’s Beach and Ainsworth Beach on Big Spirit Lake, along with those at Triboji Beach, Pikes Point and Gull Point on West Lake Okoboji were said to be satisfactory for swimming.
