Northwest Iowa Man Pleads Guilty To Federal Drug, Gun Charges

June 17, 2026

(Sioux City)– A Pocahontas man has pled guilty to federal drug and gun charges.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Iowa says 47-year-old Jordan Mefferd was convicted on one count of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine, four counts of distributing meth, one count of possession with intent to distribute the drug and one count of possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.

Prosecutors say Mefferd admitted during court proceedings that from about July 2024 through September 2025 he conspired with others to distribute more than a pound of methamphetamine. In August and September of last year agents made four controlled buys from Mefferd, totaling more than 200 grams of pure methamphetamine. On September 23rd of last year authorities executed a search warrant on Mefferd’s residence and seized a small amount of methamphetamine; nearly $10,000 in cash, four firearms and ammunition.

Prosecutors say Mefferd is prohibited from possessing firearms due to previous felony convictions.

He remains held pending sentencing.
