(Arnolds Park)– A little more than $20,000 in proceeds from this year’s Walleye Weekend is being awarded to four different organizations in the Iowa Great Lakes to support fishing related projects.
The East Okoboji Lakes Improvement Association is receiving $4,300 for aquatic vegetation management; the Okoboji Protective Association is getting $5,000 for the Cooperative Lakes Area Monitoring Project; $6,000 is going to the Iowa Great Lakes Fishing Club for youth fishing education and outreach; and the Spirit Lake Protective Association is receiving $5,000 for a public fishing dock at the Marble Beach Recreation Area.
More than 2,300 anglers participated in Walleye Weekend this year. The 45th annual Walleye Weekend will be held May 1st-2nd, 2027.
