(Terril)– The city of Terril could soon see a drop in it’s fire protection rating, which, in turn, could negatively impact homeowner’s insurance rates.
Acting Fire Chief Jarrod Fischer told the city council Monday evening a recently conducted inspection of the Terril Fire Department by the Insurance Services Office, or ISO, turned up a lack of documentation of required training sessions from previous years…
“I did explain to him our situation, that I took over in August and we did start with the pumps, I told him what we did. They didn’t care. They’re not going to. They’ve got a code that they have to follow and they can’t give me any leeway, which is fine, I get that. But you may see an increase. Once I get that I’ll come and talk to the council, I’ll let you guys know.”
Fischer says currently the city of Terril’s rating is a seven. He says it’s likely that will drop to 9, with 10 being the lowest rating. Fischer told the council he’ll attempt to appeal that but he’s unsure how effective that will be.
