(Okoboji)– A culinary artist who’s put on events previously at the Pearson Lakes Art Center is returning. Brandon Muetzel will be putting on two dinners later this summer…
“We are going to be doing a dinner that’s going to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States of America on Thursday, July 2nd, and then we’re going to come back in August, I believe it’s on the 27th, it will be on a Thursday, and we’re going to do a Taste of Iowa Dinner.”
Muetzel, who’s been in the culinary arts the past 23 years in New Orleans, says it’s important to know where your ingredients are sourced…
“So that’s a big issue that I try to bring awareness to when I do cook up in Iowa is that understanding there are label laws that will tell you where you get your seafood, where your produce comes from. Those are really important in determining whether or not you want to support where that’s coming from and also the flavor profile that it’s going to have, and freshness. All of those things really factor into how much your food source is important and where you get it from.”
Muetzel says he always enjoys bringing his talents to the Iowa Great Lakes…
“The people at the Pearson Lakes Art Center are top notch. I absolutely love Jean Quinn. She is super helpful. I was very excited when she gave me the opportunity to do our first large dinner last year which was the Taste of New Orleans and I’m really excited to work with her again. We’re getting new plateware up there, we’re having a lot of fun, and we’re hoping to sell out both of the dinners.”
Muetzel says he’s looking forward to making a return visit to the area…
“I try to bring a lot of New Orleans southern flare back up with me. It’s a lot of fun. We have a lot of laughs. Everybody can enjoy it while they’re there and that’s going to be worth it. And not only that, but every ticket we sell it does support the Pearson Lakes Art Center and I’m an Art Major, an Art and Art History Major and preserving and securing the arts is really near and dear to me.”
Tickets and menu information for the upcoming dinners can be obtained by contacting the Pearson Lakes Art Center.
