(Spirit Lake)– Unofficial results are in from Tuesday’s primary election.
In Dickinson county, there were two hotly contested races for Republican nominations for the districts 1 and 4 seats on the Board of Supervisors. In District 1, Dan Taylor narrowly defeated Beth Will to move on in the November election. Just 35 votes separated the two, according to unofficial results. Longtime incument Steve Clark was defeated by fellow Republican Thaddeus Cooke for the District 4 seat on the Board of Supervisors; Curtis Rouse was unopposed for the Republican nomination for the District 2 seat. Bethany Brands-Lampe defeated Melanie Summers Bauler for the Republican nomination for County Attorney.
In Clay county, five republicans were vying for nominations for three seats on the Board of Supervisors. The top three votegetters were Barry Anderson, Sharon Johannsen and Brent Trierweiler.
In Osceola county, Dale Woltier defeated Dustin Monier for the Republican nomination to the District 3 seat on the Board of Supervisors.
In Iowa Senate District 3, Lynn Evans defeated Shane Bellefy and in District 5, incumbent Dave Rowley narrowly held off a challenge from Stacy Besch.
There were no contested races on the county level in Emmet, Palo Alto and O’Brien counties.
Statewide, for Governor, Zach Lane defeated Randy Feenstra by a little more than 1,600 votes for the Republican nomination.
For U.S. House in District 4, Democrat Dave Dawson will take on Republican Chris McGowan in November.
Republican Ashley Hinson and Democrat Josh Turek will face off in November to succeed retiring Republican U.S. Senator Joni Ernst.
