(Undated)– High fuel prices have motorists looking for ways to try to reduce at least a little bit of the pain at the pump. Nick Jarmusz from Triple-A says the way you drive could affected how often you need to fill up…
“On the highway, that means staying closer to the speed limit, because once you get to 50 mph, the faster you go, the less fuel efficiency you’re going to get because of the air resistance.”
And, the way you drive around town affects how quickly your gas tank empties…
“By leaving more distance between you and the vehicle in front of you and slowing down, which will allow you to slow down instead of having to constantly hit the brake and the re-accelerate back up to speed once traffic starts moving again, that’s also going to help you increase your mileage.”
Motorists are also looking at ways to consolidate their trips as a way to help ease some of the impact.
Experts say high fuel prices are likely to remain through at least the summer.
