(Milford)– The next phase of a $24 million project to improve the Iowa Great Lakes Sanitary District’s Wastewater collection system is about to get underway.
1.5 miles of existing 30 inch diameter pipe and manholes are being upsized and replaced with a dual-pipe system from the wastewater treatment plant just northeast of Milford north to near the Arnolds Park Amusement Park. Steve Anderson, Superintendent of the Iowa Great Lakes Sanitary District, says to date, about 30 percent of the project has been completed, including sections within the Hunter Hills development and portions of the Emerald Hills Golf Course.
Anderson says the next phase gets underway Monday, May 11th, and will result in the full closure of 28th Street in Milford for about four weeks. Anderson says arrangements are in place that will still allow emergency service providers access to that area while the work is going on.
He says access will also still be available to the Humane Society of Northwest Iowa.
