(Okoboji)– A ribbon cutting was held Thursday evening on another recently completed section of Dickinson county’s trail system. This one consists of a loop through the Pearson Lakes Art Center and is known as the “sculpture trail”. Just a week ago a ribbon cutting was held on a trail extension in West Okoboji. Erin Reed of Dickinson County Trails says it’s an exciting time for them…
“It’s just really exciting to see these neat collaborations come together and develop these unique places with the businesses and the cities and work together to create cool places for people to get together and enjoy the outdoors.”
Meanwhile, Reed says work continues on a new trail from Milford south to Clay county…
“The rain has slowed us down a little bit but they do have a good portion of it paved from the spine trail down through Pioneer Park and they’re working on the grading portion along Highway 71. They’re getting far along on that but we’re waiting on good conditions so we can start paving. We’re getting close but in a few weeks we’ll probably have her paved and we’ll be button’ it up.”
Clay county earlier this summer had a ribbon cutting for their portion of the connection trail from Spencer to the county line north of Fostoria.
