(Estherville)– The Estherville City Council earlier this week held a public hearing on an upcoming project for the city’s electrical distribution system. City Administrator Penny Clayton says it would improve efficiency and reliability…
“It is a complete communications system that will help us monitor not only the electrical distribution here in Estherville for voltage, for outages, it will increase reliability and the length of time people may suffer outages. They’ll be able to pinpoint where those outages are occurring and just a much better system. There will also be all new meters throughout the community and be able to read those more efficiently, planning for the future.”
Clayton says the project has a total estimated cost of $1.8 million. She says $1.39 million of that will be covered through state and federal grants with the city’s share coming in at $404,000.
The council voted unanimously Monday evening to adopt a resolution to proceed with the project.
