(Estherville)– Residents of Dickinson and Emmet counties experiencing ongoing emotional distress from flooding and severe weather are being made aware of a resource that’s available to them. Linda Stilley and Mark Derifield of Estherville are working for Project Recovery Iowa. Stilley says they offer a number of support services free of charge…
“And those services include individual, group counseling; basic support, educational contact, community network, and they do assessments, referrals and resources for people in emotional distress, pretty much. The program is grant funded through FEMA and I think it runs through August of this year. It’s also associated with the National Alliance On Mental Illness.”
Stilley says they operate on a referral basis…
“So we’re doing this part time and just reaching out to people that may be in need. We’ve dropped of flyers, we got involved with the free pork loins that are being handed out this weekend. We’ve dropped off flyers at food banks, senior centers. All information on this is completely confidential. There’s no names, no addresses, anything like that that’s recorded. Anybody that needs the help we have websites through Facebook and Instagram and there’s also emails through the state of Iowa as well.”
Stilley says you can go to Facebook, Instagram or You Tube and search for Project Recovery Iowa for more information or to get a referral.
