November 07, 2024 Steve Schwaller

(Spirit Lake)– We’re learning some new details into some drug arrests earlier this week in Spirit Lake. It stemmed from a traffic stop Monday near 140th Street and Hill Avenue in Spirit Lake.

As we reported previously, a subsequent search of that vehicle turned up methamphetamine and marijuana, resulting in the arrest of a passenger, 42-year-old Juan Rodriguez of Fairmont. He was booked into jail for possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, possession with intent to deliver marijuana, two counts of failure to affix a drug tax stamp and possession of drug paraphernalia.

We have now learned the driver of that same vehicle, 51-year-old Amy Vanderpool of Council Bluffs, was also arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance…methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was given a warning for excessive speed and was released on her own recognizance.

Rodriguez remains in the Dickinson county jail on a $40,000 bond.
